- Remove any snow from the branches of young trees so they don’t snap under the weight.
- Prune any fruit trees you have around the garden.
- Make plans for future expansion of your garden, whether landscaping or choosing what new shrubs to plant.
- Leave out feed for birds such as sunflower seeds, peanuts and fatballs, all available from Hygeia’s Wild Bird Care range.
- Prepare a diary to record your success & failures in the coming year.

- Sow summer cabbage inside and broad beans outside
near the end of the month.
- Sow early carrots near the end of the month also.
- If the weather is good, sow some summer flowers.
- If you have rhubarb already planted, force it by covering a crown
of rhubarb for eight weeks with a dustbin or large container. (This will encourage the rhubarb to grow earlier and will taste sweeter.)

- Prune bushes, trees and other plants around the garden.
- Aerate your lawn with a pitch fork.
- While you are waiting for the growing season, make sure to clean the drains around your house
- Use Mosgo on your patio, paths and drive to kill moss in that area.
